2015-16 Scholarship
The Arvada
Running Club offers support and encouragement to women runners of all ages and
abilities. From beginning joggers to Boston
marathoners, members pursue individual goals and activities that include
competitions and weekly training runs. The club is a powerful source of
inspiration for women who share a common passion for running.
The Arvada
Running Club is proud to help students afford a quality education while
continuing their involvement in running.
An annual
scholarship will be offered to a graduating female high school senior who plans
to participate in either a college track or cross-country program.
The award
applies only to the student’s freshman year at a four-year accredited college
and is non-renewable.
The scholarship amount for the 2015-16
academic year is approximately $500.00.
Arvada Running Club reserves the option to divide the award among more than one
student.
Who is Eligible?
You are
eligible to apply if you meet the following criteria:
• You are a female high school senior
who graduates in May 2016
• You train with either a club or high
school track or cross-country team
• You reside in Arvada
and/or attend one of the following Arvada
area
high schools:
• You have a high
school grade point average of 3.0 or more
• You plan to attend a four-year
accredited college or university beginning Fall 2016
as a full-time freshman student
• You plan to participate in a college
track or cross-country program during your
freshman
year
•
You agree to an interview
with Arvada Running Club members in May/June 2016.

• Print out a copy of the entire
application. Print pages 4 & 5
• Complete application form by neatly
printing the required information

the blanks provided. You can email or mail the application.
• Copy completed application for your
records.
• Mail completed application by April
15, 2016 to the address listed below
with the following attachments:
Transcripts from the high school
in which you are
currently enrolled
Typed, 250 to 500-word essay, double-spaced,
on one
of the following
topics:
Describe
how your running experiences have
Impacted
your life.
Explain
what role running will play in your future
beginning in college and beyond.
Letter
of recommendation from
a high school athletic
coach, academic counselor or
instructor

Scholarship Application Deadline
Applications
will be accepted through April 15, 2016. Applications received after that date will
not be considered. If qualified, you may be invited to interview with members
of the Arvada Running Club. The scholarship recipient will be notified by
mid-May 2016.
The Award
If chosen for
the scholarship, you will be awarded a check from Arvada Running Club. You must
submit proof of enrollment to an accredited four-year college or university
before receiving the award.
